Elaine Young: A Champlain Professor: Advice from the Trenches: Words Grads Should Live By

I'm enjoying listening to your segment on The Browser and as I've been seeing resumes from your students, want to pass on that you are doing a great job of giving them the right tools. On that resume I consistently see LinkedIn address and Twitter again and again. Nice.

What I look for first is well rounded common sense. I do expect a strong social presence - but beyond that a sense of depth to peer into the thinking mind. There, a blog shows me often the most. An open facebook page reveals quite a lot as well, and students better have a clean profile there!

    Again, nice job Elaine.

Elaine - this was a very interesting thread and I hope it provided some value to your students. With digital changing everything so quickly, the least we can do is consistently listen, be willing to learn and demonstrate enough flexibility to quickly change course if there's a better way.

I would be eager to hear feedback from the students on what they're seeing and how they feel about the industry today.
